Emory E. Potter, a 45-year-old man from Philadelphia died of a heart attack three hours after his daughter. His daughter Mary Ann, 8, seriously ill from a streptococcus infection, told her mother hours before she died: “I wouldn’t mind dying if only papa would go along with me.”
In 1982, Linda J. Knauss was shot in a holdup outside a boutique in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 2013, she passed away due to complications from that old wound. That means that 30 years after being shot, Knauss perished as the result of a homicide.
21-year-old Austin Tyler Zalik died after the crash in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Zalik had been sleeping in his pickup truck, which was parked at a gas station near Interstate78. At some point the truck drifted from its parking spot and went down an embankment and into the path of a tractor trailer. Police say Zalik may have bumped the gear in his sleep.
A 17-month-old girl from Croydon, Pennsylvania, whose name was not released, was run over by a riding mower. The child was running toward the riding mower driven by her 8-year-old brother when she tripped and fell in front of it. The toddler came in contact with the mower’s blades and died from severe injuries.
Nathan Ostrowski, 16, of South Fayette Township outside Pittsburgh was getting a ride home when the driver swerved to avoid hitting a groundhog. Ostrowski, who was resting his head on his arm on the car’s front seat window ledge, struck his head on a mailbox on the side of the road and died later in a hospital.
