Deadly Parade

Javier Cruz, a 38-year-old employee of Disney World and father of two, died while performing in a Pluto costume during the Share a Dream Come True Parade when he was run-over by Beauty & the Beast float.

Robert Halvorsen, a 21-year-old employee of Eastern Roofing Corporation from South Windsor, England, died when he fell 30 ft. off of a roof into a large vat of 500 degree Fahrenheit liquid roofing tar. Two coworkers immediately attempted to pull Halverson out, suffering severe burns in the process, though Halvorsen was discovered to already be dead by the time they were able to remove him.

Fatal alcohol immersion

A 45-year-old woman from Taiwan, whose name was not released to the press, died of alcohol intoxication after immersing herself in a bathtub that was 40% ethanol, for 12 straight hours. At the time of her discovery, she had a blood alcohol content of 1.35%. Her family told the press that she may have done it due to believing that she could decontaminate herself from exposure to the SARS virus with alcohol.

Passenger Decapitated by a Telephone Pole Support Wire

Francis “Franky” Brohm, 23, of Marietta, Georgia was leaning out of a car window and decapitated by a telephone pole support wire. The car’s intoxicated driver, John Hutcherson, 21, drove nearly 12 miles to his home with the headless body in the passenger seat, parked the car in his driveway, then went to bed. A neighbour saw the bloody corpse still in the car and notified police. Brohm’s head was later discovered at the accident scene.

Lava Lamp Death

Phillip Quinn, a 24-year-old from Kent, Washington, was killed while heating up a lava lamp on his kitchen stove. The lamp exploded and a shard pierced his heart.

Deadly Belief

A Russian who believed he was immortal after surviving a 10,000-volt electric shock in 1992 died after drinking antifreeze. Dmitry Butakov, 42, invited journalists to Lipetsk to watch him survive the feat, but after his second half litre he collapsed into a coma and later died.

Last Level

A 31-year-old computer game addict collapsed and died on 6 March at his screen in Chengdu in the western Chinese province of Sichuan, after playing the online game Saga for 20 hours. He had Been playing the game regularly at the Internet cafe, where an employee said he would often play for more than 10 hours a day.
